WELCOME
Welcome to our new families. We have a wonderful community here at Dairy Flat School. We don't always get everything right, however, we try very hard to right any mistakes. We are really interested in your values and opinions and welcome you to come and talk to us about any questions, concerns or good news that you have. Our staff do have meetings and responsibilities before and after school so it is best to make an appointment to ensure everyone has time to fully discuss any issues.
We also welcome 30 international students to our school for the first month of the school year. They are here to learn english and a little bit about our New Zealand culture. I'm sure you will make them feel welcome.
Our new building is open and six classes are operating in the six fabulous new spaces. We are excited about the opportunities the new spaces offer.
We welcome Ms. Courtney Ryder (LZ2 Team Leader), Mrs Verde Barton (LZ2), Mrs Michele Moorcroft and Ms Lauren Vaughan (LZ4) to our teaching team. We also welcome Mrs Heather Walker who is teaching our international students. Two new teacher aides have also joined our team. We welcome Chloe Jones and Clare Campbell.
This year we are conducting a review of our behaviour policies and strategies. We are part of the Ministry of Education Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) project. We will be consulting with our school community as part of this review. More information will be provided later this term. We would like a parent representative on our behaviour team. If you are interested, please inform the office.
Our team blogs are chock full of information and links to support learning. We have set them up so that they contain a lot of information and resources for parents and students. Information on teaching programmes, permission forms for trips and digital links to learning sites will all be available on the team blogs. These are available on the website. Click 'our blogs' and then go to your team blog. (http://www.dairyflat.school.nz/our-blogs.html)
We look forward to an exciting 2018.

Marrzipan are running awesome confidence through drama classes at YOUR SCHOOL - Yippee!! Marrzipan have gained a huge reputation in New Zealand for the development of shy children, especially those with anxiety, autism and selective mutism. Saying that, this is a class for the super crazy and dramatic types too, as we focus on positive leadership and social skills. Our classes focus on inner and outer self-confidence, and are super fun and exciting for children. Parents are kept up to date with weekly emails about what’s been covered in class and why, as well as what you can work on at home. We have two awesome showcases at the end of every term too, so you can see your child’s development first hand. You can sign your child up for a Trial Lesson via our website www.marrzipandrama.co.nz (we have contact numbers on there too, should you prefer to talk to a human!) |
