School Notices​
Our school has been working with SchoolDocs to create a website for our policies and procedures. We are excited to announce that the site is now live and available to our school community. 
The school works  with SchoolDocs to maintain, update, and review our policies. SchoolDocs provides us with a comprehensive core set of policies which have been well researched and follow the Ministry of Education National Administration Guidelines. The policies and procedures are tailored to our school.
SchoolDocs updates, modifies, or creates policies in response to changes in legislation or Ministry guidelines.

Food and Drink Reminder
Please be reminded that students are NOT allowed to bring lollies, chewing gum or fizzy drinks to school.


Swimbus 2016
Swimbus will be held in the 4th term and NOT term 1 2017. This is a fantastic opportunity to get your children confident in the water. Their programme caters to all swimming or non swimming abilities. Older children do life saving skills as well as have stroke coaching. As a school we encourage ALL children of all abilities to enrol in this valued programme.
Please see the attached flyer below on how to enrol your child.

Please note the lessons take place during school time so you do not have any transport issues!

Factathon Money Raised
Thank you to everyone for supporting this fantastic fundraiser for our school. We raised the following amounts which will be spent in each of the Learning Zones on resources of their choice.

School Hats 
A reminder that term 4 is a sunhat wearing term. All students must wear their sunhat outside during term 4 and term 1 - these are for sale from Uniformity. Please see their link on our website or visit them directly at 15b Foundry Road in Silverdale.
 
New Enrolments
Do you know of anyone looking at enrolling with us for 2017? If you do, please can you ask them to contact our school (email or phone) to advise their details, as we will be looking at 2017 classes shortly.

Have you moved house recently or changed your phone contact details?  Please advise the school office asap with any new details so we can keep our information up to date.

Native Tree Donation 
Thank you so much to Tanya and Corey Syme for your generous donation of native trees. We were excited to receive them and are presently deciding where to plant them. 

Lucky Book Club - Issue 7 brochures are out
All orders must be received through the office by Tuesday 18 October at 3.00 pm.  Cheques must be made out to Scholastic New Zealand.  Alternatively, check out online ordering through Book Club Loop by visiting mybookclub.scholastic.co.nz.  Important - Please note the short time frame for your orders for this issue.  Any Christmas presents can be ordered by writing 'Office' on your order instead of your child's class or you can use the 'gift' option online.​

The next PTA meeting is Tuesday 08 November at 7pm in the staffroom.

Ag Day Cake Stall

It's that time of year again, time to pull out those delicious recipes and bake something scrummy for our ever popular cake stall! This week each family has be sent home a cake box to fill and deliver to the school staff room on either tomorrow afternoon (Friday 14th October) or first thing Saturday morning 15th October. If you would like extra boxes there will be spares available in the office. Please note that there will be no ticket sales through school so you will need to purchase them through Ticketmaster. We are going to the Bruce Mason Centre for a rehearsal on Monday 7th November, leaving school at 8.20am and returning at lunchtime. Please find a permission slip attached below.

Rain, hail or shine we are on!
On Ag Day you will need to bring your calf/lamb/goat to school with its halter/collar and lead, a rope to tether it before/after judging, a drink in a suitable container. You will need to display your Ag Day number on your shirt.

Remember:
Lambs: CAN NOT be washed but you can brush them to clean them up.
Calves: NO clipping, trimming, oiling or singeing of calves is permitted.
Goats: Kid goats may be groomed in any manner
Chickens: 1 chicken per student, per cage. Bring food and water in a suitable container. Have your Ag day number on your cage.
 
Reminder to bring your Lego in tomorrow Friday by 8.45am to ther hall and pavers and scarecrows on Saturday. All must have your Ag day number attached.

Ag Day Parking
Parking for Saturday – the fields across the Highway (used most years for parking) will be closed on Saturday due to the rain. Alternative parking available at: the North Harbour Country Club (off Landfill Access Road, but please note: PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON Landfill Access Rd (this is an access road used by Waste Management on a Saturday); also park outside the Dairy Flat Hall on Postman Road or along the Highway. We apologise in advance for any delay in getting in/out of the school drop off zone; please understand it is a result of the weather. A 50km area will be in place outside the school and stop/go signs in operation.  Please be patient and go where directed thank you!

Pre-schoolers and their Animals for Ag Day
As usual we welcome pre-schoolers and their Ag Day animals to participate at Dairy Flat School Ag Day.  Pre-schoolers can bring their chickens, lambs, kid goats or calves to Ag Day.  The preschool judging starts at approximately 10.45am. All participating pre-schoolers receive a ribbon. Pre-schoolers are also welcome to make a sand tray on the Friday and receive a certificate, we will display these in LZ4 area. If you would like your pre-schooler to participate  please contact Liz Cotter on elizmackay@xtra.co.nz

Sports Notices
Summer Touch Rugby - Starts NEXT WEEK - Wednesday 19th October
Team lists will be coming home with children today - please check their bags! Some teams still require a manager - please contact your coach if you are able to assist with managing. Payments will go directly to Sharks Touch. Please remember to put the schools name and the team name in the reference when paying. Payment details will be on the team list that your child will be given!

We still have space for any Year 3/4  girls and boys who wish to play Summer Touch after school on Wednesday.
Please contact Mrs Committie if you wish to join in.

Happy, Confident and Resilient Children Seminar by John Cowan
Tues 8th November @ Stanmore Bay Primary School Auditorium. 7.30pm-9pm
John joined The Parenting Place in late 1995 and writes much of The Parenting Place’s material, including manuals, high school resources, Toolbox parenting courses and articles for Parenting magazine. He presents a wide range of seminars and workshops on family life, relationships and professional development.  You can read more about The Parenting Place if you visit http://www.theparentingplace.com/
The 1 1/2 hr seminar is focused on supporting children of all ages to be resilient, confident children able to deflect trouble, resist pressure, handle stress and recover from set-backs and trauma. 
All children can be helped to tackle life and grow up to have a ‘can-do’ attitude! 
Tickets $5 and the Stanmore Bay PTA will be hosting a gold coin donation light refreshments and biscuit before the seminar (from 6:30pm - 7:30pm), along with 2 vouchers kindly donated from Jac's for prizes on the evening.  
You can book your tickets online, from Stanmore Bay school office, and on the night.

Dairy Flat Live Music Club
Saturday 21st October - Slick Back Rockabilly. Dairy Flat Hall, corner of Postman Road and Dairy Flat Highway.

Marrzipan Drama
Is your child shy? Do they feel intimidated by the idea of public speaking and performance? Do they sometimes find it difficult to make eye contact? Do they just need dedicated time per week to just be CRAZY? Come and join the revolutionary self-confidence programme - Marrzipan! We run awesome drama classes at school, which focus on key life skills and public speaking ability. We play fun engaging games and perform at the end of term once to parents and once to the school. All scripts are original, engaging, educational and HILARIOUS. All children receive an end of term progress report too, along with a certificate to remind them they are awesome! Kidslink
Kidslink are having a movie night to raise money for our Help for Kids Programme on Thursday October 20th at Hoyts Whangaparaoa, cost is $25 which includes movie ticket, a glass of bubbles, a goodie bag and spot prizes.  Our Help for Kids Programme has already helped 123 children at $40,850, please come along and support this great cause.  If you would like a ticket please call 09 959 0531 or email: carolyn@kidslink.co.nz


Orewa New World Santa Parade
Time is whizzing by and we are in the process of organizing the Orewa New World Santa Parade which is going to be held on Saturday November 26  2016 at 4.30pm.   
This year the parade route will stay the same as the last year and will be starting at Alice Avenue, meandering down Florence Ave and then along Hibiscus Coast Highway and finishing at the Orewa Beach Surf club.
W
e are looking for costume wearers aged (6-12yr olds) and children to ride in Sammy Steam Engine (4-6yr olds).  
Orewa Surf Sounds will follow after the parade with entertainment, food trucks and fireworks at 9pm.  All right here on the Orewa Beachfront Reserve by the Orewa Surf Club.  A real family fun time!
