2017 Organisation
We are re-organising the school structure for 2017. The changes are due to two reasons:
1) the new build is in Learning Zones of three classes and 2) the inconsistent student numbers within year levels. We will now have four teams of three classes.
LZ1: Years 5-6 Shayne Grice, Jenny Forlong, Penny Jefferson
LZ2: Years 3-5 Kyle Port, Fiona Sutherland,Hannah Swan
LZ3: Years 1-3 Fran Earwaker, Robyn Mowat, Ma Waaka
LZ4: Years 0-1 Lyndy Committie, Jody Costello, Rosie Forbes
Students will be allocated to classes following consultation with their present teacher, team leader and their achievement data and social considerations. LZ1 and LZ2 will be working together to be ready to move into the new build. All year 5 students will attend camp, waterwise and other curriculum trips.
Despite our growing roll our staffing has not increased and the Board of Trustees is paying for an extra teacher next year. The new MOE funding model has meant a reduction in our financial expectations as the MOE has decided not to provide any inflation adjustment.
It is increasingly difficult to manage our budget as expectations and needs are increasing.
A big thank you to Grant and Ruth Amos for organising and donating sand for our long jump pits for Athletics Day. Many thanks.
Playground Vandalism
We were disappointed to arrive at school this morning to find our playground vandalized and other property damaged. I am aware that many of our families enjoy the playground and grounds out of school hours and ask that you keep an eye out and report any incidents you witness. We want our school to be a place that the community can enjoy and continue to be free of the vandalism that plagues other schools. We have been very fortunate that we do not usually have to deal with such issues. Please help us keep our school vandal free. Thank you.
On a happier note, on duty today I had a wee chuckle when I noticed the sandpit full of our Year 5 and 6 students. We love that our students love to play in our wonderful environment.
