Penny Jefferson

I have been teaching for about five years, most of that here at Dairy Flat, with Year Three students.

Before I was a teacher I was a Draughtsperson for a Civil Engineer. When my daughter reached Year Three I felt the need for a change of career direction, so I returned to university and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I then carried on to complete the Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching Primary at Massey University.

My particular interests are Art and Maths. When I have the time I enjoy walking along our beautiful beaches.

Which Way?.....Writing Directions

 We have been doing procedure writing. The students have been writing directions to get from one place to another around the school. Pairs of students created and wrote their directions. Then another pair had to follow the written directions to check that there were enough landmarks and clear instructions to enable them to get to the destination. Finally, that pair drew and labelled a map of the directions.
