PTA will be selling food and drinks at Athletics Day Hot Chips, Sausage Sizzle, Ice Blocks and Cold Drinks, as well as Ice Cream and Barista Coffee from the Harcourts van. Children who have pre-ordered will receive their lunch orders at the lunch break. Don’t forget to bring some money if you missed the lunch order or would like a treat
Carnations Flower Fundraiser for the school – $5 a bunch.
Flowers will be available outside the school office tomorrow on a first come, first serve basis as we only have a limited number each week.
Civil Defence & Emergency Notification
Notification about the Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management’s upcoming emergency mobile alert test on Sunday 24 November.
Emergency Mobile Alerts are messages about emergencies sent by authorised emergency agencies to capable mobile phones. The alerts are designed to keep people safe and are broadcast to all capable phones from targeted cell towers. They can be targeted to areas affected by serious hazards and will only be sent when there is a serious threat to life, health or property, and, in some cases, for test purposes.
An advertising campaign will run from 17-24 November on TV, radio and online, along with other communications activity.
On Monday 18th to Friday 22nd of November,week 6, Dairy Flat school will be having an Environment week where we learn about caring for nature. There will be a garden sale all week at the red line by the hall from 8.15 to 9.00 each morning. At the garden sale we will be selling vegetable seedlings, flowers and succulents. There will also be horse manure and compost for sale.
There will be planting at morning tea after eating, outside Room 9. There will be a charge of $1 if you want to take your plant home.
All money raised will go towards repairing the school greenhouse.
A donation box will be outside the hall all week for any garden supplies you are willing to donate. Please do not put any broken or damaged items in the donation box as it is not a dump zone. If you have any bigger items to donate please visit the office.

Lucky Book Club – Issue 8
Last issue for the year so get those orders rolling in! Christmas is fast approaching, providing an ideal opportunity to give the gift of reading! All orders must be in by Tuesday 26 November at 9am. Cash and cheque orders to the office – please write ‘gift’ if you don’t want your order delivered to your child’s class. Likewise, if ordering gifts online, please check the ‘gift’ box. Those ordering gifts will be notified when the order arrives so you can collect from the school office. Cheques must be made out to Scholastic New Zealand.
