Principal’s bit

Happy Thanksgiving.  Dairy Flat Staff are thankful for all the continued support you have given us during this challenging time.

I am thankful for the wonderful staff and students here at school.  It is a joy to be at school.

It is with sadness that I am announcing the resignation of Penny Jefferson and Shayne Grice effective as of 16 December.  Penny has decided to retire to spend more time with her whanau and friends.  Shayne is leaving due to being offered a position at Mahurangi College, which will save him many hours each week travelling to and from school.

Both Penny and Shayne have been valuable and respected staff members.  The work and contribution, including the extended hours of dedication are greatly appreciated. We wish them all the best for their future endeavours.

On behalf of everyone at Dairy Flat and the BOT, we wish Penny and Shayne good luck for the future.

We are currently in the process of interviewing replacements.  Next week we will announce our staffing and organisation for 2022.

We now have more information about what the last 3 weeks will look like.  Schools will continue in level 3.2.  Our current organisation will remain the same.

If we do have a positive COVID case at Dairyflat School we have procedures in place as outlined by MOE.  This flowchart is a summary of what that looks like.

For those interested, more information is available here.

We will do our best to follow the guidelines and keep us all safe here at school.

We ask you to follow these guidelines to keep COVID out of the school.  Your information will be kept confidential.

  • Keep child(ren) home if feeling unwell
  • Inform us, straight away if you or your whanau are positive or suspect you are positive.
  • Inform us if isolating due to being in close contact
  • Adults continue to stay out of school grounds
  • Ring the office if needing to talk to someone at school or email us
  • Support and appreciate our hardworking teachers and support staff.

If you have questions or concerns, you can contact me, your child’s teacher or the school office.

My email address is:

Fun Run
The closing date for prizes for fundraising is this coming Monday 29th November. This is the latest date we can have to ensure prizes will arrive by the end of the year.
We intend to run the fun run on Thursday 9th December. The nature of the run, and how we run it, depend upon the changes coming with the new traffic light system. At this stage it is expected that the run will be in-school within Learning zones without spectators

Five Nights of Festive Fun

This event will sell out – secure your tickets now!

Son of a nutcracker, it’s nearly Christmas, and MOTAT is bringing you a Meri Kirihimete with Christmas drive in movies, food trucks, light displays and a special visit by Santa!

That’s right, we have five fun and festive nights of the best Christmas movies around, and you can watch them on New Zealand’s largest outdoor screen.

From Die Hard to Elf, we have a movie to suit you and your Crimble crew, for only $30 per car.

Movie schedule

Friday 17 Dec – Die Hard (M)

Saturday 18 Dec – Home Alone (PG)

Wednesday 22 Dec – Elf (G)

Thursday 23 Dec – How the Grinch Stole Christmas (PG)

Friday 24 Dec – The Polar Express (G)

As a famous Grinch once said, “Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more”. So grab the Whānau and friends, load up the car with snacks and spend some quality time in front of the big screen.
