Dairy Flat School Enrolment Zone – Explanation
School Donation and School Student Contributions
Dairy Flat School has worked with the Ministry of Education and the local community to put an enrolment zone in place. To enrol your child you need to make an appointment, complete the on-line enrolment application form together with the supporting documents. We would like to give you the opportunity to look around the school and ask any questions you may have. Please see the attached image and description to see the proposed zone. |
Cohort Entry Year 0 & Year 1
Our school starts all Year 0 & Year 1 learners on the first day of Term or on the Mid-term Monday.
Cohort entry is about helping children to settle in school. There is evidence that starting school alongside other children helps them build relationships and supports a smoother entry to school life.
It can also mean less disruption for new entrant teachers who can prepare for groups of children arriving on a specific date.

OUT OF ZONE INFOMATION
Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The board will publish this information by notice on the school website and in the school newsletter. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.
5 Out of zone places across the school have been approved for 2025 by the BOT.
Please apply in writing to Mrs Hills, the school principal stating your reasons for applying for an out of zone place commencing in 2025. Applications close on Tuesday 15th October 2024. If there are more applicants in priority groups than there are places available a ballot will be held on Wednesday 23rd October 2024.
Applications from out of zone students will be processed in the following order or priority:
- First priority must be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in an approved special programme run by the school. Our school has no such programme
